When the Romans were here it would be particularly difficult to get lost, as there was a rather large stone construction stretching from one side of the country to the other. Since they left Britain, great chunks of their Wall have since been recycled to other locations. However, even where that ancient boundary no longer exists, the Hadrian's Wall Path National Trail is clearly identifiable.
