We have been the sole providers of Camping Treks on the Hadrian's Wall Path National Trail since it opened in 2004. Our Hiking 'Adventure Treks' are particularly popular with those looking for a safari-style experience.
Camps are all set up for arrival at the end of each day's walk, with campbeds and seating being included. When folk set off in the morning with just their daysacs to carry, the camp is dismantled and moved along with their baggage to the next location, whereupon it is re-built just as it was, ready to greet weary limbs.
The tents we use need to be durable, not just for the environment, but also the necessity of being packed away easily, thrown on top and then dragged off Land Rovers on a frequent basis, to miraculously reappear just as they were earlier in the day.
In 2005 we began using Oztents, rugged spacious tents designed for the outback and imported from Australia. They're extremely flexible, with a sleeping compartment and attached overhead awning coming as standard. With the addition of front and side panels, they can be modified to provide an extra compartment. Beyond that, for larger groups, each tent can be joined to another if desired, creating ‘supertents', or even a canvas village.
So you can sit in your Safari chair under the shelter of your awning, gazing at the amazing landscape whilst contemplating your day, before retiring to the comfort of your cosy sleeping compartment for the rest needed for the next day's endeavour.
