Guide Rendezvous

Welcome >> Walk >> Tour >> Bike >> Info >> Services >> Guide RV

The purpose of the Guide Rendezvous (RV) on your arrival is not just to 'meet & greet', nor is it to reassure you on the wisdom of your endeavour, but more to ensure that you know what to look out for as you make your way across the Roman Empire's Northern Frontier.

A Guide RV is in effect a 'mini presentation' from a qualified and experienced Local Guide who is able to pass on not just advice with regard to outdoor skills, but also an insight into the uniquness of the landscape and heritage of this World Heritage Site.

So this is the opportunity to ask those burning questions - what footwear is best on which days - how much should you carry each day - if it's needed, what local transport is available from where - which days should you take a packed lunch - where can you take a tea or coffee break, or perhaps get something more substantial - are there any pubs open - where do you go 'when nature calls' - which 'sites of interest' are particularly worth visiting - where can you see the Wall itself - what's the difference between a milecastle and a turret - what happened after the Romans left - Edward I, 'Hammer of the Scots' - Mary Queen of Scots - who were the Border Reivers - the Jacobites - Bonnie Prince Charlie...

Perhaps there's a bit more to traversing Hadrian's Wall than you know already? Well, a Guide Rendezvous is your chance to find out.
