Throughout 2010, on the Sunday of each Bank Holiday Weekend, we are offering a 'Special Full Day Guided Bike & Hike' with Gary Reed, On, Along and Off the Wall, through Northumberland National Park.
Meeting at Once Brewed Visitor Centre, the bike ride will start from Steel Rigg, overlooking Crag Lough, then follow quiet country lanes overlooking Hadrian's Wall, before coming on and over the Wall itself, for an off-road traverse along the Vallum to Walltown and the Roman Army Museum.
After a Guided Tour of the Museum (which is also an ideal spot for a hot or cold drink, as well as a tasty homemade snack), you can then put on your walking boots for your Guided Walk back to Once Brewed, via Walltown Crags, Aesica Fort, Cawfields Crags and up to the highest point of the Wall on Winshields Crag.
This event does require a relative degree of personal fitness, capable of an eight-mile bike ride on and off-road over generally mild terrain, followed by a six-mile walk cross-country over more undulating terrain.
We provide:
The 'Special Guided Bike & Hike Day Out' is £40 per person
